I got to chat with the Rhys Thomas and Alex Buono on the red carpet at its screening in New York City. The two were thrilled with the show already getting picked up for its second season. When asked about having Helen Mirren as the show host, Rhys jokingly said that she agreed on doing the show just because she may have missed on reading the script.

Fred Armisen and Bill Hader

Then Bill Hader came up and I asked him about his favorite episode of all six and he said that Sandy Passage (a parody of the famous documentary Grey Gardens) was his favorite because it gave him the opportunity to dress up in different costumes, which made it fun to film. Luckily, we were able to sneak peak of Sandy Passage right after the Red Carpet. For Fred Armisen, I asked him about the hardest episode to film and he said it must be Kanuk Uncovered due to the freezing cold weather they had to deal with while filming.

They screened two episodes of Documentary Now! : Sandy Passage and Dronze: The Hunt for El Chingon. Sitting on a mezzanine section, I could hear laughter from episode one throughout and it got even louder in episode two. The show was absolutely hilarious, and the cinematography was top-notch and quite attentive to the details.

Documentary Now! Panel

After the screening, the cast, director and producer were all joining the panel, and this was a true LOL experience as Bill Hader is such a hilarious entertainer along with the fellow SNL alums. I could barely get through it since I couldn’t stop laughing, just like so many others! I could get into the details, but you’d be the one to judge. So, why don’t give this new Mockumentary a chance?
