Not Your Regular Instant Noodles
Today I was really craving for some instant noodles. A lot of people think that it’s just a junk food. To me, it is when you just add hot water and wait 3 minutes till it’s cooked and eat it just like that. I mean instant noodles pretty much got me through my college years or even when I am broke! However, I can afford to be a little more fancy so today I’m going to tell you how I make your everyday instant noodles to a healthier dish that would make you ask for a second bowl!
Ingredients ;
• 3 packs of Mama (MAMA is a well-known Thai instant noodles brand) – pick any flavor you like. I picked the vegetable flavor.
P.S. 3 packs are barely enough for 2 servings because my husband asked for more, but we could only have one big bowl each!
• fried fish balls – get 1 pack ; the price is around $2.4X, definitely less than $2.50
• cilantro – 1 bunch is enough because I only use 1/2
• 1/2 onion ( XL size)
• 4-5 cloves of garlic
• 1/2 cup of water
Like always, prepping all ingredients before hand is a must. Dice up the onion and mince up the garlic. Next, wash the fish balls (yes, I’m aware that they were fried, but I would want to make sure they are clean, lol) then cut each of them in half to make it look like you have so many fish balls! This way you don’t eat too much! This is how I have tricked my eyes! 🙂 Lastly, mince up the cilantro.
Start cooking the noodles. It will only take about 3 minutes or less so once it’s being boiled, take out the saucepan and fry the garlic with onions. Then add the flavor that comes in the tiny packets. Since you use 3 bags of instant noodles, use 2 packets and keep the last packet for later. Once the onion got a little soft, add the fish balls and cook till they look gold. Assuming that you could make all this done in 3 minutes, if not, be careful not to over cooked the noodles! Drain the noodles and bring back and put it in the saucepan and stir fry with stuff that are already in the pan. Add the last flavor packet. Mix it well and sprinkle the cilantro and cook a little bit. That’s it! Serve it with some vegetables for a side dish. Tonight I chose to have it with tomatoes 🙂
