What makes a show greater besides striking stories? Music plays a huge role, conveying emotions, setting the tone of a scene, and giving a strong impact on viewers. I’ll have to give it to Orange is The New Black. It’s a hot show with great ensemble and amazing storyline. Season 2 is coming back on June 6th, which is only a month away from now. What do we do to prep ourselves for season 2? (Besides re-watching it on Netflix.) We can listen to the soundtrack!

Recently, I ran a Twitter giveaway, “OITNBZinePak” in which I partnered up with Zinepak. The team is amazing and kind enough to send me a review package that I’m listening to as I’m writing this post.

The package is very neat. It comes with a 64 page magazine with the cover of Orange is The New Black poster that we all have seen. I love the size of the magazine — not too big, not too small. It’s a perfect size you can carry it around. Once you open the magazine, you will find a soundtrack CD on the flap of the magazine, under an apple pie image.

Yes, I’m throwing my pie for you, Zinepak. I’m in love with this magazine even before listening to the soundtrack! First page is a win because of it has one of Alex Vause’s quotes, “Come Be My Little Spoon.” The contents are well organized and creative. You can read more about Jenji Kohan, the creator of Orange is The New Black, Q&A with the cast; Uzo Aduba, Taryn Manning, Lea DeLaria, and Taylor Schilling. Not only that, there are some cool facts from the show like books that the characters read in Litchfield prison and many more.

Now, let’s talk about the soundtrack. There are 12 songs, including the song in the intro ” You’ve Got Time.” by Regina Spektor. The complete list is here;

You’ve Got Time (3.11) By Regina Spektor

Walkin Up The Road (2:51) By Betty Davis

Move And Groove Together (2:35) By Benny Latimore

Gangsta (2:35) By tUnE-yArDs

I’ll Take You There (Single Version) 3:15 by The Staple Singers

Milkshake (3:04) By Kelis

Walking Backwards (4:11) By Leagues

Kickface (3:52) by Little Foot Long Foot

Sunday Morning (3:52) By The Velvet Underground

Living This Life Makes It Hard (4:34) By The Duchess & The Duke

Chicken (1:54) By Nancy Cassidy

Baby Face By ” Whispering” Jack Smith

How great is that when you listen to these songs and could picture which scenes in OITNB these songs were played! Oh, you also get 2 stickers that come with the CD and magazine!

This could be a nice collection if you are a collector or a nice gift to your loved ones!

The OITNB ZinePak is available to purchase on May 13th, but you can preorder your copy here. Get amped up before season 2 premieres and to celebrate the good news as the show just got renewed this past Monday (May 5th, the same day as Met Gala!) announced by Orange writers and Laura Prepon:
