Orange is The New Black Season Two is coming back on June 6th, which is about 25 days away! To make it even more special, today is OITNB’s 10 month-anniversary since its premiere last summer. How to celebrate? How about attending the Vulture Festival Pop Culture Trivia Extravaganza, featuring the Orange is The New Black, New Girl, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This is their first festival ever, held at Milk Studios in the center of the Meat Packing District in New York City. The room was jam-packed, but luckily you get a shot from the front row! Dave Holmes hosted the show as M.C., with special guests: Yael Stone, Danielle Brooks, Uzo Aduba, and Selenis Leyva from Orange is The New Black. Team OITNB was up against Team Fox: Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Lamorne Morris from New Girl. Both teams brought their A-game. The audience went crazy with laughter and screams the entire time. Both teams seemed to be having a blast as they struggled, fought, and plied for the correct answers. Uzo had the audience roaring with laughter when she cried at team Fox, “I will cut you!” Team Fox responded by teasing the members of OITNB, warranting a steely glare from Selenis, “We come from prison, boo,” she warned. Yael Stone owned the first round of Trivia. They had to guess the faces of previous cast members of famous sitcoms. In the next round, when it came to guessing the singers, Stephanie from team Fox really nailed it. Danielle Brooks was amazing, too. She sang and danced as she answered, channeling her character Taystee. Lamorne also cracked jokes throughout the trivia. At one point when Danielle couldn’t figure out the answer of a question, she demanded that she wanted to “Phone-a-friend,” alluding to the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” Our host never failed to make all of us laugh. At one point, I tried to mumble an answer to help Uzo and had to cover my mouth before Dave Holms could kick me out of Milk Studios. All in all, this was a successful event! I said hello to Selenis after the event and she was glad that I came out to support. I also met and chatted with Uzo and Danielle after the show. After the event, the audience could hang around at Vulture lounge. Whether you like beers, wines, or cocktails, there was plenty to everyone. My husband and I went to dress up as bananas for a photo shoot. We grabbed some drinks, and then went for a Joe Fresh photo shoot. We had so much fun and grabbed some swag home. We were so glad we got to attend Vulture Festival. We both already are looking forward to the next year!
