From scale one to ten, I was definitely at ten to be at PaleyFest red carpet of Gotham. Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon), Sean Pertwee (Young Bruce’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth), Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot AKA Penguin), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Sarah Essen) and one of the executive producers and directors, Danny Cannon.

I spoke with Sean Pertwee and he was such a delight to chat with.

About playing such a kick ass butler

Sean Pertwee: We developed a lot of kick-ass elements. We were concerned of–of course, Alfred has history too. He has a history of guilt because he believes that he is responsible for the death of the Waynes. He’s fiercely protective of young master Bruce, and he grows to love him as though he’s his own. But he’s still employed by him, so it’s a very strange dichotomy–or position for any man to be put into. He’s concerned, he has no skills or experience to bring up a child. So what he does is enable him. You will learn Alfred’s history and his past. You will understand where that came from. He comes from a military background; he comes from a very dark place and you see why the Waynes choose Alfred. And that’s what people missed in the first couple episodes. Anyway, I can’t say too much, but enjoy the rest the episode tonight.

Then I got to chat for a bit with Zabryna Guevara.

If you could tease about the episode we would be watching tonight. (There’s a screening of episode 5, Viper at the panel right after the red carpet)

Zabryna Guevara: No, but it’s gonna be GOOD! [Laughs]

To work with the group of talented cast of Gotham

Zabryna Guevara: It’s a real blessing. I cannot say it enough. We have been blessed with the cast that is so kind to one another, giving, and incredibly talented.

I wish we had more time on the red carpet, but it was amazing to be seeing these amazing actors and actresses talk about their hit show.
